9 Funny Games for Kids That Get the Whole Group Laughing

Some games are fun. Others make kids laugh so hard they have to lie on the floor. The funniest ones usually share a trait: they put a player in a situation where doing the thing is already ridiculous. These 9 are the ones that reliably get the whole group laughing.

Funny because of a ridiculous rule

1. Sleeping Beauty: Don't Laugh. One player pretends to sleep while everyone else tries to make them smile using only faces, jokes, and noises — no touching. The harder they try, the funnier it gets.
2. The Floor Is Lava: Handicap Edition. Cross the room on pillows while carrying a full cup of water, or while blindfolded and guided by shouting teammates. Both versions end in laughter.
3. Sit, Stand, Lie Down. Three actors must always keep one sitting, one standing, and one lying down while acting out a scene. Scrambling to fix the positions mid-story is the whole joke.

Funny because of the reveal

4. Blindfolded Makeup Artist. One player applies their partner's makeup by touch alone. Taking off the blindfold and handing over a mirror is the best part.
5. The Whisper Challenge. A player in loud headphones tries to read a silly phrase from someone's lips. The wrong guesses are usually funnier than the right ones.
6. Wacky Wardrobe Relay. Every player pulls on a whole basket of silly clothes before racing. Watching someone try to run in three hats and a bathrobe is the payoff.

Funny because of what people say

7. Would You Rather. The sillier the choice, the better — spaghetti hair or cotton candy hands. Explaining the answer is where the laughs come from.
8. Two Truths and a Lie. The funniest version is when the lie is believable and one of the truths sounds completely made up.
9. Try Not to Cringe. Watch awkward photos or clips in silence. The first person to smirk loses, and everyone then breaks at the same time.

Keeping funny games funny

• Laugh with, not at. The best funny games leave everyone laughing at the situation, not one person.
• Play it big. The more a player commits to the silly voice or dramatic pose, the funnier it gets.
• Quit while it's still funny. End a game on a laugh rather than letting it drag out.
